The active learning model is based on the development of an environment where a child with disabilities can reach their full potential. The staff at the centre teaches the child skills through the use of play activities. Play forms a natural part of the child’s development and is an enjoyable form of learning. A child can explore and discover things through play activities. A child with a disability needs extra help in order to play.

The needs of the children at the centre are nappies and food on a monthly basis. The Association for Persons with Disabilities urgently needs a sponsor for permanent security services for Emelia Active Learning Centre, because of theft and break ins over school holidays when the children are at home.
